Custom TV Console | Deerfield
Project Summary:
We've noticed that once clients use us for their Deerfield kitchen or bathroom remodels, they seem to keep coming back for more. That was the case for these Deerfield clients who were ready to remodel and freshen up their family room. Prior to hiring us, the family room had a traditional design, but our clients were ready to upgrade it and made the shift towards a contemporary interior design.
They loved the idea of a wall-mounted TV but didn't want the accompanying electronics, like cable boxes, DVRs, kids' video games, etc. to be in the visible realm. Thus, the idea of a custom TV console was born and we feel we delivered. The new look is fresh, contemporary and very streamlined, with nary a bit of electronic clutter to be found.
Cabinetry:
This was a custom TV console so it required fully custom Grabill cabinetry. It was built as a wall-mounted inset unit with a high lacquered finish. The color is Glacier White with a high buff finish. The flat slab door style continues the contemporary aesthetic and we opted to dress it up a bit with decorative hardware to act as "jewelry".
Countertops:
Even though the cabinet is a wall-mounted TV console piece, the idea was to have it appear as furniture and, therefore, a matching wood high lacquered top was the obvious choice. Alternative options included things like a granite or marble countertop, but this would have made it look and feel like it was a wall-mounted kitchen cabinet, and that is not the look we were going for.
Flooring:
Bamboo flooring and accents are very popular in the contemporary design world because, in addition to its clean and consistent appearance, it's a highly renewable resource so it appeals to those aiming for a sustainable design. We used 3.25-inch pre-finished Bamboo flooring in an Espresso finish, which provided the contrast we were looking for against the white moldings in the room as well as the white frieze carpet and the shimmer of the white TV console.
