Chicago Bathroom Remodeling: Not Your Average Toilet

Chicago Bathroom Remodeling - ToiletsHigh-tech kitchens are all the rage these days, but bathrooms are doing their best to keep up with the technological trends too. Digital shower and bath features and heated flooring are two examples, but toilets are where some of the real innovation is emerging.

Move over toilets that can only flush, here comes something more exciting.

Why install an average toilet in your Chicago Bathroom Remodel when you can install one of these?

Until recently, the average toilet simply flushed. Specialty features included things like water saving options and comfort height options.

Now, Kohler and Toto offering a more deluxe tier of toilet – and yes, they even clean themselves.

Kohler’s Numi Intelligent Comfort-Height

Perhaps one of the most striking things about the Kohler’s Intelligent Comfort Height® skirted one-piece elongated dual-flush toilet (K-3901) is that it has a boxy shape. This, in itself, makes it stand out and is a selling point for modernists interested in a little something different for their bathroom design.

The toilet comes equipped with technical options, like ambient lighting in eight different colors, which also provides safe and attractive night lighting) and Bluetooth technology. Here is what the Numi Intelligent experience is like.

When you approach the toilet, the motion-sensitive lid will raise for you. The seat is pre-heated, as is the foot warmer, via your personal, pre-set preferences (a power-save mode adjusts these setting when the toilet isn’t in use to save energy). If you like, ambient light will softly diffuse in one of eight color choices. You also have the option to select a pre-programmed Numi song, or you can use the toilet’s Bluetooth feature to access yours - including a personalized pre-set playlist.

When you’re finished, the Numi Intelligent toilet has dual-flush options (0.6 or 1.28 gallons per flush (gpf). The toilet will clean itself with a built-in, self-cleaning wand feature, which also activates a precision air dryer and a deodorizing filter to keep the area dry and fresh.

Once you get up and walk away, the motion sensor is activated the toilet cover is replaced.

Toto Neorest 750H

If the idea of a luxury toilet has piqued your interest, you can compare Kohler’s toilet with the Toto Neorest 750H. While it’s elongated shape is more traditional, there is nothing “old fashioned” about this deluxe toilet that will look right at home in the most contemporary bathroom design.

In addition to a universally-designed comfort height, this toilet also comes equipped with automatic lid open/close function, pre-programmed heated seats and an automated flusher. And let’s spend a minute on that flusher, which not only uses a unique Tornado/Siphon Jet Flushing System, but also incorporates an Electrolyzed Water mist (ewater+®), reducing the need for harsh cleaning chemicals. It also comes with a dual-flush system (1.0 GPF and 0.8 GP).

While the Toto Neorest doesn’t offer all the colorful lights and BlueTooth options the Kohler toilet does, it does have a lid activated light for safety and ambience, and it offers another major perk – bidet-like spraying. The toilet is equipped with a “washlet,” with three different warm-water spraying options (front, middle and rear). The sprayer is adjustable for your comfort and offers oscillating and pulsing spray options.
