Boy, have things changed. Now, homeowners have the option to design a bathroom worthy of 5-star hotels and famous day spas. One of the most significant changes in [bathroom design trends](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/372793/Bathroom-Remodeling-Trends-for-2014) is the way we now think about the shower space. From steam showers to snail showers and everything in between, your shower area can become the feature of your Chicago bathroom renovation. ## **Bathroom Shower Ideas for Your Upcoming Bathroom Remodel or Renovation** Here are some shower ideas to get you started. Your bathroom space may determine whether or not some of these features will be available. We recommend scheduling an consultation with a professional bathroom designer to benefit from all the possibilities. A few changes to your bathroom plans and you may be able to accommodate luxuries you never thought possible. **Stand alone showers. **If you have [a small bathroom space](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/380993/Bathroom-Remodeling-Chicago-Uncramp-Your-Small-Bathroom), or have grown weary of cleaning a tub that's never used, we recommend a stand alone shower. It may open up additional space in your bathroom, and with beautiful tile work and a high-quality glass enclosure, it can become an artistic feature in the room. **Tub/shower combinations**. The tub/shower combo has been the go-to, standard shower for decades. Unfortunately, these units are often bland and add nothing to your overall bathroom design. If you can, we recommend installing the [largest and deepest tub](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/365521/Bathroom-Remodeling-Soaking-Tub-vs-Conventional-Tub) that can fit in the available space, and then using artistic tile work and a stylish shower enclosure to finish it off. **Walk-in shower**. These are gaining in popularity and there are a myriad of options. You can add benches and corner seating, have a standing shower curb or include a gently sloped bathroom floor that makes the curb negligible and yields a [shower area that is completely accessible](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/350189/Options-for-Accessible-Bathroom-Remodeling-in-Chicago). In many of our high-end Chicago bathroom remodels, we install multiple shower heads so clients can customize their shower experience. A fixed shower head can be your go-to spot for pre-work and busy day showering; your handheld and oversized rain showers are great for long hot showers. In fact, the ability to customize multiple shower heads has helped some of our clients make the to [trade their tub space](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/380994/Bathroom-Remodeling-Chicago-Converting-Your-Tub-into-a-Shower) for a deluxe, spa-worthy walk-in shower. **Snail Shower**. With a snail shower or door-less shower, glass or tile accented block walls are [installed in a curved formation](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/highland-park-bathroom-remodel/), making the shower door obsolete. Keep in mind that no shower enclosure can make for a chilly shower experience. If you go this route, we recommend [adding radiant floor heating](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/367231/Chicago-Bathroom-Remodeling-Heated-Flooring-is-Not-Overrated) to keep the bathroom space warm and comfortable. Your bathroom shower ideas don't have to stop there. Consider [transforming your standard shower into a steam shower](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/blog/bid/372797/How-to-Convert-Your-Shower-Into-a-Steam-Shower), so you can enjoy a sauna-like experience anytime you like.
