One of the most increasingly common types of tubs is that of the whirlpool tub, which employs the use of either water or air jets, or in some cases, both. ## Pros of Whirlpool Tubs Those who swear by their whirlpool tubs agree that this kind of tub is simply the best for people who are looking for a way to relax after a long day. For those who suffer from sore muscles or heightened stress, the heat of the water and the pressure from the jets forms a wonderful combination for just this purpose. As a matter of fact, roughly [25% of high end bath remodel projects involve the implementation of a whirlpool tub](http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/home-garden/bed-bath/bathroom-remodeling/whirlpool-tubs/whirlpool-tubs-805/overview/index.htm). ## Cons of Whirlpool Tubs The different kinds of jets also pose some considerations. For instance, water jets are the most common type of jets and will also provide the best, most vigorous massage. Air jets tend to be messier and more prone to splashing and loud noise. However, water jets can [retain a small amount of water after use](http://www.consumersearch.com/bathtubs/whirlpool-tubs), which means they need to be cleaned out every other week or so to prevent buildup of bacteria or mold. For this reason, you should also avoid the use of bath salts or soothing oils, as they can damage the jets. ## Types of Whirlpool Tubs When considering your whirlpool tub, you may be wondering what kind of tub you should install. Many whirlpool tubs are custom made or can even be retrofitted to your already existing tub. However, [if you are undergoing a total bathroom remodeling overhaul](https://www.kitchensbathsunlimited.com/bathrooms), then you may simply want to purchase and install a whirlpool tub that has already been built. There are many different shapes, sizes, and materials to choose from. Of course, price is definitely an aspect to consider. Believe it or not, however, pricier does not necessarily mean better in the realm of whirlpool tubs. Some of the more major tub manufacturers in the country, such as American Standard and Kohler, now include whirlpool tubs amongst the other selections available, and these have garnered favorable reviews. One of the biggest names in the whirlpool tub industry is Jacuzzi, and for good reason; however, these tubs use a number of smaller, softer jets instead of just a few more powerful ones, which means that pressure is also a consideration.
