Fun in the tub

Floor laminate peeling up? Tiles chipped and thick with grout? Sounds like it might be time for a bath remodeling. Wilmette is just one of many villages in the greater Chicago area where we’ve been helping clients accomplish major bathroom remodeling projects.

If you’ve been considering a bath remodeling in Wilmette or other areas in the surrounding suburbs of Chicago, take a moment to consider the world of difference between kids and master bath remodels…

Kids Bath

  • This type of remodeling project can be far less expensive. And, it should be! After all, once the kids grow up, certain minor adjustments will need to be made throughout the years.
  • The focus in this type of bath remodel project should be easy maintenance and durability.
  • Shower curtains are much more convenient for bathing kids than glass enclosures, which are better suited for adult bathrooms.
  • If you have young children, bright colors can be an easy way to make bath time a fun, positive experience.
  • We always recommend a tub over a shower for children’s bathrooms for obvious reasons. However, your remodel can make it easy to convert this design in future years.

Master Bath

  • Rich, dark colors and textures like stained wood, granite, and marble surfaces are some of our favorite approaches for master bath remodeling projects.
  • Even though you are going to take better care of the master bath than your kids will their bathroom, we still advocate easy maintenance. Ask us how we can design a bathroom that’s easier to clean than you ever imagined!
  • Since most adults will take regular showers – not baths – we recommend a shower only bathroom design (as opposed to a shower/tub mix). However, adding a separate whirlpool can give your master bath a luxurious spa-like feel.

As you brainstorm for your bath remodeling, think more conservative for the kids, but invest in a more luxurious bathroom for yourself. Doing so won’t just make you more comfortable in your own home. You’ll also increase the value of your home!
