Bathroom Remodel | Deerfield

JOB SUMMARY:

Master bathrooms aren't the only ones that deserve a facelift. This Deerfield modern hall bath remodel involved more than just aesthetic improvements since the owners wanted to reconfigure some of the plumbing and fixtures to maximize the space and enjoy a more efficient layout.

CABINETRY STYLE:

This hall bathroom remodel called for frameless cabinets to optimize the streamlined look modern designs are known for. Our client chose frameless Grabill custom cabinets with a flat-slab door. The wall-mounted style of this vignette is sleek, contemporary and gives the illusion of more space. LED under-cabinet lighting works as a night light, appreciated by both children as well as guests who are less familiar with a home's layout.

CABINET FINISH:

The cabinets were finished with a high-lacquer white finish. While it may seem like white cabinets are not ideal for children or high-traffic areas, in fact the opposite is true with the right finish. High-lacquer finishes are easy to clean and maintain.

COUNTERTOPS:

To keep the cabinet and vanity look consistent, we used 2-inch white quartz countertops with a square edge (also called eased edge) detail and a matching 8-inch high backsplash that the Grohe wall-mounted faucet emerges from. Having a wall-mounted faucet allows you the option of a bigger sink and it is much easier to clean - no more of that disgusting goop that always seems to accumulate around the sink faucet. It was also in line with the look of this bathroom.

WALL TILE:

The owners opted to use a 2 x 8 matte glass tile made by Ann Sacks and laid in a brick pattern on both the sink wall and side wall. It created a nice contrast with the high lacquer finish of the cabinets, preventing an overly "blingy" effect. We also used white tile grout, which helps to define the tiles and makes them pop out more from the wall.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

Since this bathroom screams contemporary, we needed to make sure all of the accents and fixtures maintained that sleek look. To do this, we used a clean mirror without a wood frame, eliminating the need for a wall-mounted light fixture. Instead, we used two recessed cans in the ceiling above the vanity. The rectangular Kohler Ladena sink also helps to preserve the sharp, clean design lines.
